Minoxidil and Finasteride for optimal hair growth

Dr. James Marotta, a dual board-certified facial plastic surgeon, selects only the best treatments for his patients at Marotta Hair Restoration. The MarottaMD Hair Growth Serum employs the only two topical medications approved by the FDA to treat hair loss, Minoxidil and Finasteride. Furthermore, the topical solution we use at Marotta Hair Restoration contains double the concentration of over-the-counter Rogaine, while the topical application of Finasteride allows for enhanced hair growth without the harmful side effects of oral administration.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil promotes hair growth by shortening the “resting” or telogen phase of your hair’s growth cycle, allowing it to move to the new growth or anagen phase more quickly. In addition, this allows your hair to stay in the anagen phase for longer periods of time, allowing for increased growth. Minoxidil also increases blood flow to provide your scalp with enhanced nutrition. Collectively, these effects promote faster hair growth and increase hair thickness, density, and overall health.

Finasteride

Finasteride blocks 5-alpha-reductase, the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into a hormone that contributes to hair loss called DHT (dihydrotestosterone). While oral Finasteride is associated with several unwanted side effects, its topical application allows for the effective treatment of male androgenetic alopecia without the adverse effects. This medication allows the hair follicle to retain its strength and functionality. In combination with Minoxidil, Finasteride helps to prevent hair loss and promote new growth.

Enhance your surgical and non-surgical treatment results

The MarottaMD Hair Growth Serum is applicable as a standalone treatment or as a supplement to other hair restoration methods. It can easily be incorporated into your daily routine as a convenient treatment for male pattern baldness.

Your hair’s growth cycle

The hair growth cycle involves several phases, including the anagen, catagen, telogen, and exogen phases. During the anagen phase, your hair grows to its full length. Approximately 85-90% of your hair is in this phase at any given time.

Once your hair’s growth is complete, the catagen phase takes effect, and the hair follicle shrinks, slowing growth. After about two to three weeks, your hair enters the telogen phase, in which the follicle is at complete rest for about 100 days. Finally, the old hair fully detaches. This is called the exogen phase. Topical medications work by manipulating your hair's growth cycle, parenting the changes to hair follicles that cause hair loss, and increasing nutritional consumption in the scalp.

How do I apply my daily scalp treatment?

The MarottaMD Hair Growth Serum involves applying two to three sprays of the solution on your scalp twice a day.

You do not have to wash your hair prior to application or take any other additional measures. Furthermore, your treatment will be administered as a three-month supply, so you won’t have to worry about refilling your prescription for months at a time.

How soon will I notice a difference in my hair growth?

Your results from the MarottaMD Hair Growth Serum will appear gradually over several months.

It is important to note that since Minoxidil affects your hair’s growth cycle, you may experience some initial shedding during the first few weeks. This is completely normal and a sign that your hair is preparing to grow, not that your scalp treatment is failing to do its job or causing hair loss. Most patients achieve a noticeable difference in the thickness, density, and appearance of their hair within three months with consistent use.
