FUE vs. FUT: Which is the better medical hair restoration option?

The two most advanced medical hair restoration procedures are FUE and FUT. Most hair replacement doctors choose between these two surgeries. 

FUE
FUE stands for follicular unit extraction. This procedure involves the surgeon extracting follicles from the patient's scalp and less commonly areas of the body like the arms or chest. The follicles are harvested and reinserted back into the scalp as donors. This "new" hair grows back normally. The biggest benefits for FUE are the quick recovery time and the general lack of noticeable scarring. FUE offers a shorter recovery time and is a less invasive procedure.  FUE is also the better option for men who like to wear their hair short. 

FUT
FUT, or follicular unit transplantation, is a simpler operation than FUE and generally yields many more follicles during a transplant session. During the procedure, the doctor harvests a strip of tissue from the scalp and divides the strip into follicular units. Then, these units are distributed on the bald areas of the head, after the doctor has created many small holes. FUT is a better option for patients who want large areas transplanted or the most hair possible in a single session. FUT is better for patients who wear their hair longer than a buzz cut (above a razor setting of 4) because there is a fine scar in the back of the scalp.
